About Us

In 1979, Janette Love sewed a bikini for her then, 2 year old daughter and had enough fabric left over to make herself a matching one piece. The next day, Janette and her daughter Lannette went to the community pool and were quickly the center of attention. All of the neighbors began asking about the swimsuits. They wanted to know where they could find these suits for themselves. Janette explained that she had made the swimsuits in her home and respectfully declined their requests for her to make more.

One neighbor was very persistent and convinced Janette to make her a swimsuit. Soon after she got her handmade swimsuit, her daughters and other girls around the neighborhood were knocking on Janette’s door, wanting swimsuits of their own!

For the next 8 years, Janette was known affectionately as the bathing suit lady. She not only sold the swimsuits out of her garage, but on weekends sold at swap meets all over Southern California.

By the Spring of 1987, customers were showing up to Janette’s house at all hours of the day and night to get their “Fresh Peaches” bikinis and so, she knew it was time to open her first store. Not more than a month later, Janette opened the doors to the public. Housed in a 1,500 square foot warehouse in Rancho Cucamonga, Fresh Peaches offered hundreds of swimsuits off the rack, and dozens of fabrics to choose from for custom ordered swimsuits. Right away the store was a hit, within the next 5 years, the one warehouse, turned into three!

In June of 1993, business continued to grow rapidly, and Janette opened her first store front in Rancho Cucamonga. She still had the three warehouses in the same complex, where all of the sewing, designing and cutting was done. The 2,000 square-foot store was wall to wall swimsuits of all sizes and styles. On a summer day, it was not uncommon for there to be more than 30 customers at a time. The thought of being able to pick the size, style, and color of your swimsuit was appealing to almost any woman.

In early 2006, Fresh Peaches had to once again expand, and so Janette moved her business to a 6,500 square foot building, still in Rancho Cucamonga.

For the past 7 years, Fresh Peaches has operated out of it’s current location and each year, the clientele and popularity grows. Today, Janette can still be seen with her hand in nearly every aspect of the business each and every day, alongside her daughter Lannette, who has been the lead designer for nearly 10 years, and her daughter Carriann who became the store manager after graduating college 9 years ago. Today, many of the same customers who grew up wearing Fresh Peaches swimsuits now shop in our store with daughters of their own, passing on the tradition of custom made swimsuits to the next generation. The store is open year round, and in addition to custom swimsuits, you can find over 7,000 swimsuits of all sizes, styles and colors off the rack! After 34 years, Fresh Peaches has stood the test of time and a bad economy, and remains today a thriving locally owned family business.
